Bodybuilding - Proper Form

Proper Bodybuilding Form For Great Gains

Proper form is very important when doing each exercise.

If the weight is too heavy and you have to use the momentum of your body to get the weight up, you are using poor form. You can hurt yourself by doing this and your muscles are not getting the full benefit of the weight.

I was in the gym the other day and this older gentlemen was using a weight that was way too heavy for his dumbell press. His backside was coming off of the bench and he was only moving the weight two to three inches. He wasn't getting the full range of movement or using proper form.

Make sure that you are moving the weights smoothly to gain the most benefit from the exercise. You should be taking 2 seconds to raise the weight and 2 to 4 seconds to lower the weight.

Concentrate on the parts of the body that the weight is effecting. If you swing the weight around when exercising , other muscles come into play and you end up not targeting the right muscles efficiently.
