Release the Armor | Somatic Yoga for Upper Body & Hips to Lower Cortisol + Yoga Nidra | 20 minutes

Description

In Release the Armor, I guide you through a gentle yet deeply effective somatic yoga practice designed to soften protective tension held in the upper body and hips, two common storage zones for chronic stress and elevated cortisol. This 20-minute session weaves together somatics yoga, slow mobility exercises, and yoga myofascial release to help your body feel safe enough to let go.

We move with small, mindful somatic exercises that support joint health, improve mobility, and encourage natural unwinding through the fascia. This rehab-friendly practice is grounded in nervous system awareness and is especially supportive if you’re feeling tight, braced, anxious, or emotionally armored. Throughout the flow, vagus nerve yoga and gentle vagus nerve exercises help shift your system out of fight-or-flight and into a parasympathetic, restorative state.

The practice closes with a short Yoga Nidra to allow the benefits of somatic healing to settle in more deeply. This final rest supports stress release, nervous system regulation, and a sense of internal safety, which can help the body naturally down-regulate cortisol and support a somatic detox response.

This class supports somatic yoga for neck and shoulders, somatic exercises for anxiety, somatic exercises for the nervous system, somatic yoga for cortisol release, and myofascial release yoga for the upper body and hips. It’s an invitation to slow down, soften the edges, and release what you no longer need to carry.

Move gently, rest often, and trust your body’s timing. At Body Illumination, my intention is to guide you back into connection, ease, and embodied presence—one breath and one sensation at a time.
