Description

Are you looking to increase hip turn in the golf swing? In this video, I go through 6 hip exercises for golfers that will improve your hip turn in the backswing and downswing. These hip turn exercises will not only improve your hip mobility for the golf swing, but will also improve your ability to start the downswing with the hips.

In the golf swing, you need adequate hip internal rotation and external rotation of both hips. Typically hip internal rotation is limited in the majority of golfers I've worked with. When lacking hip internal rotation, you may stand up in your golf swing, sway, slide, or have a reverse spine angle. Hip external rotation usually is not limited in a majority of golfers, however its crucial to be able to control the range of motion. If you do lack hip external rotation or the ability to control the motion in the golf swing, you may hang back, sway, slide, or stand up in your swing.

The other component of gaining more hip turn in the golf swing is the ability to move your hips independently from the rest of the body. Most, if not all, professional golfers are efficient in the golf swing. One of the things that they do to make their golf swing efficient is start the downswing by rotating their hips before any other part of their body rotates. There will be a couple of drills in this video to help you start the downswing with the hips.
